How to Crochet a Pacifier Clip

Row 1: ch as many stitches as needed to reach 7 inches long, for me this was 80 ch sts.

Row 3: turn, ch 3 sts, work the star stitch in each st across.

Row 4: turn, ch 2 sts, skip the first stitch, in the center of the first star stitch on the previous round, work 2 hdc sts, skip to the next center of the next star stitch, and make 2 hdc sts. Repeat across.

Row 5: turn, ch 2, hdc in each st across.

Row 6-8: ch 1, turn to the end. Make a sc st in each st across the end of the pacafier clip.

Attach the crochet clip to the clip by wraping the end through your metal or plastic clip. Sl st through both sides to secure the crochet fabric around the clip. Finish off, and weave in the ends.

Adding the Loop

Join your crochet thread to the top of your crochet fabric, sc in the first corner. Ch 20 sts, join to the other corner with a sc st. Finish off and weave in the ends.

Wash & Care Instructions

These crochet pacifier clips will last the best when they are washed by hand, in cold water and hung to dry. However, if you need to wash them in a washing machine, you can wash them on your machine’s gentle cycle, then hang them up to dry.

Tips and Tricks

The best hook size to use for this pattern

You are going to want to use a small crochet hook for this pattern. The best size for you, may depend on your stitching tendencies. For example, if you tend to stitch loose, you may need to use a smaller hook than recommended. But if you stitch super tight, you may need to increase the size of crochet hook you use a little bit.

I would suggest using at least a size C or 2.75 mm hook, but you can go smaller if needed. I like to use a small enough crochet hook so that my stitches are nice and snug.

Make a shorter clip

It is very important that you don’t make your crochet pacifier clip too long as it can be a strangulation hazard if left unsupervised. Because of this, it is best to make a shorter clip, just long enough to hook it to the baby’s clothes, and can reach their mouth with the pacifier.

FAQs

How Long Should A Pacifier Clip Be?

It’s important that your pacifier clip be no longer than a total length of 7-8 inches. This way it prevents the clip from becoming a strangulation hazard.

Which Yarn Is Best For a Crochet Pacifier Clip?

For this type of crochet pacifier clip, you can use cotton yarn, but my favorite is cotton thread. This is a little more fine, and allows you to make those detailed pacifier clips.

How Much Yarn Do I Need To Crochet A Pacifier Clip?

No, you don’t need to use a lot of crochet thread when making these pacifier clips. Only a little bit will make a clip.

Is Crocheting Pacifier Clip beginner-friendly?

This pacifier clip crochet pattern is best for crocheters who have some crochet experience and knowledge. I would not recommend this if you are at a brand new beginner level, but it can be a good project if you are still a beginner but have some experience.

Can I Machine Wash A Crochet Pacifier Clip?

Yes, you can wash a crochet pacifier clip in the washing machine. Although this is not the best method to wash it, it can be done. If you are going to use your machine to wash the pacifier clip, make sure to use a gentle cycle, and hand it up to dry.

How Do I Attach The Pacifier To The Clip?

This pattern instructs you to make a chain loop at the end of the pacifier clip. That way all you have to do is loop the pacifier clip through the pacifier ring, then clip it to the baby’s clothing.

How Do I Secure The Crochet Pacifier Clip To Clothing?

The best way to secure the crochet pacifier clip to clothing is by using a purchased clip. I purchased the ones in this pattern off of Amazon. Then you simply attach your crochet pacifier clip to the metal clip as you go.

Can I Add Beads Or Other Decorations To My Crochet Pacifier Clip?

Yes, you can add other decorations to your crochet pacifier clip, however you will want to be selective in what you decide to add. Make sure that none of the added items could cause the baby to choke on them.

Crochet Pacifier Holder

Crocheted pacifier holders are a very handy item for parents to use with their baby who enjoys a pacifier. This practical accessory will help keep track of the pacifier so that it doesn’t fall on the ground, or end up in unknown locations. Therefore, not only is this crochet project cute to make for new babies, but also practical.
