Easy Crochet Lovey Pattern Tips and Tricks
Adding Eyes And Other Facial Features
For a project like this, that is intended for babies and young toddlers, it is best that you never use safety eyes, as they can be a choking hazard for young children. Instead, I prefer to stitch on the eyes with yarn or floss. This way you can make sleepy eyes or round eyes that look super cute, but are safe for little ones to play with.
Using Different Techniques For The Blanket
There are many different techniques you can choose to use to make the little blanket to attach the animal head to. I like to use a solid granny square blanket, but you might prefer to make a round blanket, or use a different technique to make another type of granny square blanket. Feel free to use whatever type of stitch you prefer to make the little blankets.
Choosing The Right Crochet Hook Size
I like to use a 5.5 mm crochet hook with this type of yarn. However, if you end up using a different yarn, remember that you may need to adjust the size of hook you use. Another reason why you may need to change the size of crochet hook you use is due to your stitching technique. If you stitch more loosely or tighter you will need to increase or decrease your hook size to help compensate.
