How to Use the Mama Bear SVG Step-by-Step
Step 1. Download and Unzip the File
Before you can begin creating, you will first need to obtain your free SVG cut file. You can get your copy of our free download in the section below. Enter your email address and then download and unzip the file on your computer.
Step 2. Upload to Your Design Software
After the file is saved to your computer, you can upload the design to your software. Keep in mind how you go about doing this will depend on if you’re using cricket cutting machine for silhouette cutting machine as the programs that each of these require are different.
Step 3. Resize & Customize
When you have the design loaded into your software, you can customize it and resize it to fit your specific project. When you have the sizing that you need, and the design image placed where you want it, feel free to add customization to the design such as names and dates if you wish.
Step 4. Prepare for Cutting
When you have your design set, with your customization, you will want to prepare your finished image for cutting. If you are making something such as a shirt with heat transfer vinyl, you may need to use the mirror image of your design. Please note that some programs will automatically do this, but others require you to manually do it before you send your design to cut.
Step 5. Cut and Weed
When you are certain that your design is ready, load your desired material type to your cutting machine, and then instruct your software to cut. Make sure that all of your necessary presets are set for the specific material you are using.
After you’re cutting machine is finished, you can remove any unnecessary material from the cut. This is called “weeding“. You can weed with designated waiting tools or with a straight pin if you need to in a pinch.
Step 6. Apply to Your Project
Depending on what you are making, you will need to transfer your cut material onto your project. This might require you to use a heat press, and iron, or transfer tape depending on what surface you are transferring your design onto.
If using heat transfer vinyl, use a heat press or iron to get the vinyl to return to your project. If you are using regular vinyl, for other projects, when you may need to use transfer tape to transfer the cut image onto your project.
Once you’re cut project is transferred, make sure that it is secured in place. Then your project is finished and ready to be enjoyed!
