Tips and Tricks
Using different colors
If you want, you can use different colors of yarn in a variety of ways. You can make each of the blocks the same, in that all of the centers are the same color, all of the flower petals are another color, followed by a leaf color, and then a final round color. Or you can make each block different, or even all of the blocks the same color completely. It’s entirely up to you, feel free to customize this pattern just how you want it to be.
The best hook size
The best crochet hook size will depend on a few different factors. First, the weight of the yarn you use will determine what size crochet hook you use to make these crochet granny squares. Then, you may need to increase or decrease the hook size slightly, depending on your stitch tension. In the pattern details above, I have given my crochet hook size reconditioned, of the 5.0 mm hook, but feel free to adjust it as needed.
Using Yarn Scraps
Using yard and scraps for this crochet project is a great idea, as it allows you to use up your leftover yard while still making beautiful flower squares. You don’t have to I have enough yard for all of the squares. You can feel free to mix up the different colors so that you can make enough squares for your crochet project.
It is often very cute when the daisy petals are made from different colored yarn when making up your blocks. Depending on when you were making, you can always arrange the same color blocks to make a diagonal stripes especially if you are making a blanket out of the flower squares.
