Granny Square Heart Tips and Tricks
Choosing The Yarn
Choosing your yarn will result in different sized granny square hearts. In this pattern, I have suggested to use crochet thread, which has a fine yarn weight. However, you can use regular yarn if you prefer. Keep in mind the different type of yarn you choose or yarn weight will determine not only the finished size of your heart, but you will also want to keep in mind what you are making with the hearts in order to select the best type of yarn.
Using Yarn Scraps
These crochet grain square hearts are a great project to make using yarn scraps. You don’t have to have a lot of yarn or crochet thread in order to make one of these hearts, so feel free to use up some scraps you might already have on hand.
Crochet Hook Size
The crochet hook size you choose to use will also depend on what yarn you actually end up using. If you use crochet thread, then you can go with the recommended hook size above. However, if you choose to use different yarn, then you may want to reference the yarn package for the suggested hook size. Feel free to increase or decrease the size of hook, depending on your stitch tension.
