Free Crochet Bookmark Pattern
Skill level: Intermediate
Materials:
Crochet thread. I highly recommend that you use crochet thread in order to make this as a lacey bookmark. You can use fine, crochet yarn if you prefer to use a different type of yarn, but you will have a nicer finish using crochet thread in my opinion. Either way you’ll only need a little yarn to make this pattern.
A crochet hook. When using crochet thread, I recommend using a 2.00 mm crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
sl st – slip stitch

Adding a Tassel:
With these beautiful crochet bookmarks, you can add a touch of whimsy by finishing the bookmark off with a tassel. You can make the tassel anyway you prefer. My favorite way is simply to cut along strand of the crochet thread. fold it in half and loop it through the top of the bookmark. Then Ty slipknot at the two ends in order to finish it off with a simple tassel. Feel free to mix things up and make any type of tassel you prefer.

Tips and Tricks for Handmade Bookmarks
Selecting Your Yarn
I highly recommend using crochet thread to get that Lacey look for your crochet bookmark. Using crochet thread gives you a much nicer finish, and in my personal opinion, it works so much better as a bookmark.
However, if you prefer to use yarn, then you will want to select a thin yarn for your bookmark. A lightweight worsted weight yarn will work, just make sure that it is nice and thin. Then select a crochet hook that is small enough for your yarn. Usually a size E or F crochet hook will work best with this thin yarn.
Adding Embellishments
You can also add embellishment to these bookmarks specifically on the tassel if you would like, or anything else you’d like for an added personal touch. Some fun items to add our beads, or pendants if you want.
Make It In Fun Colors
Remember, you can make your crochet bookmarks in any color you like. It’s fun to make these bookmarks in a variety of colors and mix it up.
