Double Crochet Clusters. Double crochet clusters can be made in a couple different ways. Let’s look at one of the more common ways to make a double crochet cluster. First yarn over in insert your hook into the first stitch indicated. Yarn over and pull up the loop. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on your hook.
Then yarn over and insert your hook into the next ditch indicated. Yarn over and pull up the loop. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook once more. Yarn over again and pull through the remaining loops on your hook. This makes a double crochet cluster stitch.
Treble Crochet Stitch. To make a treble crochet stitch, and your first yarn over two times, then insert your hook into the stitch indicated. Yarn over and pull up a loop. There are now four loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook, yarn over again and pull through the next two loops on your hook, and yarn over again and pull through the remaining two loops on your hook.
A Slip Stitch. To make a slip stitch, you will first insert your hook into the stitch indicated, yarn over, and pull up a loop. Then pull that same loop through the previous loop on your hook. This makes a slip stitch.
To make a basic granny square pattern, you will usually use a chain stitch and double crochet stitch. It’s also a good idea to use the magic ring to start your project. Typically, when making a granny square, you combine double crochet stitches and chain stitches together to make what is known as a granny stitch.
