Free Crochet Bow Pattern Tips and Tricks

What is the best hook size

There are many different size options to choose from for your crochet hook. In the pattern above, I have the recommendation for the size crochet hook I used to make the bows, however you may need to adjust the crochet hook size you use, depending on your stitching tendencies. Ideally, you will want your stitching gauge to match what is outlined above, in order to get the similar finished size hair bow. This may mean increasing or decreasing the size of crochet hook you use slightly.

How to attach the bow

When it comes to attaching the hair bow to something that allows you to easily wear it in your hair, there are a few different options. One of the easiest options is to attach it either using hot glue, or sewing it to an alligator clip. You can also attach it to a hair tie or hair band if you prefer. It is entirely a matter of your preference what you attach the hair bow to, in order to wear it in your hair.

What Yarn Do I Use?

There are so many different worsted weight yarns to choose from, so determining what the best option is can be challenging. My favorite yarns to use when making these crochet hair bows are 100% cotton yarn, that is a nice medium weight yarn. I have found this to give you the best and most durable results.

You can use other crochet materials, such as acrylic yarn, wool yarn, or even different yarn weights, but remember those will all impact how your finished bow turns out. It is also entirely up to your preference what you use to make your hair bow, after all it is your crochet project!
